While we’re slowly inching back towards the weekend, let’s all take a minute to grab a coffee or whiskey (no judgement) and get into what this beautiful Tuesday has to offer.

Here's what's worth reading about so far this week:

I’VE GOT A FEELING SHE’S GOING DOWN
WOMAN EMBROILED IN MASSIVE DEER POACHING OPERATION PLEADS NOT GUILTY

A 36-year-old woman accused of leading a yuge deer poaching operation has made her first court appearance and is feigning innocence, despite the evidence piling up against her.

For those that need a refresher on this case, back in October, we broke the story of Jessica Kroening, 36,  who led a group of juveniles in a poaching spree that a local sheriff referred to as “Senseless. Reckless and Indiscriminate.”

The crimes, which reportedly took place in the Fond du Lac area between the spring of 2023 and the summer of 2024, involved the suspects joyriding around in their car while searching for deer to purposely hit. For the deer that they were unable to collide with, a press release stated that the group of individuals would turn to spotlights and rifles to get the job done after the sun went down.

In addition to shooting what is believed to be roughly 100 deer illegally, the group was also known to pick up weary fawns on the side of the road, terrorize them in the car for a period of time or even take wounded deer to their home where they would allegedly take selfies with the injured animals…

The yearling that was illegally killed

😵 Three captive elk killed within three weeks of one another. An elk killer is on the loose in Clark County, South Dakota and the local Sheriff’s Office wants answers. After two bulls were killed in the beginning of November from a local captive breeding farm, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office put out a BOLO for anyone noticing any suspicious activity in and around the facility.

Within days of the last bull elk being shot, the family that owns the farm woke up to another dead elk, this time a yearling, on November 22nd. With a pass-through wound found in the animal’s abdomen, the death caused the family to upgrade the reward to $5,000 for information that would lead to a conviction. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information regarding the crimes to come forward.

👏 Wisconsin’s gun deer season was the safest in state history. The unfortunate reality surrounding the lifestyle we all love and cherish is that sometimes accidents happen and people get hurt. With a number of injuries and more deaths than we’d like to admit across the country this year, the news coming out of Wisconsin is good - for a change.

According to preliminary data from the state’s DNR, just one non-fatal shooting incident was documented during the nine-day gun season that ended on Sunday.

"We're always striving for the safest possible seasons, so every improvement we can make is a point of pride for all of our hunters, hunter safety instructors, the warden staff and others who work so hard to prevent shooting incidents," said Renee Thok, DNR hunter education administrator.

The previous low before this year was set last year with three non-fatal shooting accidents.

🚔 Tennessee man busted for cross-state poaching activities. A Clarksville, Tennessee man is now facing a slew of charges after Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials launched an investigation into possible hunting violations.

Their investigations revealed that the accused committed several violations in both Kentucky and Tennessee that included the illegal killing of a 10-point buck and an 11-point buck. Officials also noted that the accused “falsified telecheck information and violated regulations relating to Chronic Wasting Disease.”

The suspect has been charged in both Kentucky and Tennessee for his crimes.

THOUGHTS FROM THE STAND // THINGS WE PONDER

  1. There’s no social stability without individual stability.

  2. One day my kids will ask to skip school to go hunting or shooting and I’ll have to pretend like it’s a bad idea.

  3. Car dealer websites represent their business so well. They’re super aggressive and annoying and make me want to cut myself.

  4. Coincidences are just God’s way of remaining anonymous 🙏

🏃 How was your Turkey Trot this year? Watch as a group of deer decide to tear through an annual Turkey Trot in New York and, unfortunately, send one woman to the hospital. The good news is she’s ok - no word on whether she’s running next year though…

WANDERINGS // A SFW GLIMPSE OF OUR BROWSER HISTORY

How to plan an espionage-themed trip across Europe. I understand that America runs on it, but where the hell did the name ‘Dunkin’’ come from? George Costanza may very well have finally been vindicated for peeing in the shower now that doctors are admitting that there’s really nothing wrong with it. Annnnnd…I am officially ready for some old-timey holiday drinks.

This looks good right about now.
