Colorado Wolves Rounded Up and Placed in Secure Enclosure After Outbreak of Conflicts šŸŗ

+ another big ol' gator down in the 'Sip, legalized drones, Oregon hunter rescued and whole ball of rattlers.

Todayā€™s one of those days that we donā€™t forget. We donā€™t forget when it arrives and for a lot of us, we donā€™t forget where we were when it happened.

We delayed our mailing this morning to give all of those who lost their lives on that faithful day a moment of silence. We will never forget the brave souls who lost their lives and those that ran towards trouble on that faithful day.

With that in mind, letā€™s all take a minute to grab a coffee or whiskey (no judgement) and get another mid-week dispatch out the door.

Here's what's worth reading about so far this week:

  • Wolf round up - Colorado officials wasted no times capturing problem wolvesā€¦but now what? šŸŗ

  • Another record in the ā€˜Sip - Another monster gator is on the board šŸŠ

  • Legalized drones - Missouri now allows for drone use while hunting in certain situation šŸš

  • Oregon hunter rescued - After 12 hours, he was finally located ā›‘ļø

  • Not one, not two but three - One rattlesnake is enough for meā€¦šŸ

A QUICK AND DIRTY OP
COLORADO WOLVES ROUNDED UP AND PLACED IN SECURE ENCLOSURE FOLLOWING LIVESTOCK DEPREDATIONS

Just as quickly as they were released (kind of), Colorado officials have captured six wolves in Grand County after conflicts with ranchers and livestock went through the roof. The seek-and-capture operation kicked off on August 22 as Colorado Fish and Wildlife officers headed into the field to capture and contain the now infamous Copper Creek pack.

Officials bagged the adult female 2312-OR on Aug. 24, followed by adult male 2309-OR on Aug. 30 before he died on Sept. 3. The four pups ā€” three males and a female ā€” were captured between Sept. 3 and Sept. 5.

The adult male that died succumbed to injuries sustained to his hind leg, but were not associated with the capture.

šŸŠ Another record gator is nabbed in Mississippi. They grow ā€˜em big down in Mississippi and this tank was taken on the very last day of the stateā€™s 10-day season. According to the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, hunter Jason Ullendorf landed a real beauty that measure nearly 12 feet in length. After working the late shift for three days out on the Pascagoula River, Ullendorf was finally able to get hooks in the monster gator just as the season was set to expire.

After pulling the gator to the boat, there was no doubt in Ullendorfā€™s mind that he had wrestled a big old bull gator. But once he had the monster in the boat, a quick inspection revealed that this gator was a big olā€™ girl. After officials arrived to have a look, the gator was certified by Andres Arnett, the MDWFP Alligator Program coordinator. Official measurements came in at 11 feet, 3/4 inches long, nearly two feet longer than the previous record for a female gator in the Magnolia State.

šŸš For the first time ever, you can now hunt with drones in Missouri. Well, the Missouri Department of Conservation recently released a number of new changes for this yearā€™s hunting seasons and among one, is a new tool hunters can add to their arsenal. For the first in state history, hunters can now use drones to recover wounded deer, turkey, elk and black bear during their respective hunting seasons.

To go ahead and retrieve an animal using a drone, hunters will be required to gain permission to fly their drone over private or public property. Doing so without permission, remains prohibited.
