+ Ontario dog killers charged, shooting from the truck in Wyoming, Florida's newest kittens and coyotes on a wire

The weekend might not be here just yet, but your favorite dispatch from the great outdoors is.

So grab your coffee or whiskey (no judgement) and let's get caught up on the outdoor news and views from the past 24-or-so hours.

Here's what's worth reading about today:

  • A Colorado wolf in Wyoming - A reintroduced wolf is killed by the feds in a neighboring state šŸ¤«

  • Dog killers charged - Ontario ā€˜yote hunters cited in dog killing case šŸ‘®

  • Shooting from the hip truck - Wyoming green-lights shooting non-game species from vehicles šŸ›»

  • Balancing act - Watch as coyotes walk along a fence-top in search of their next meal āš–ļø

Itā€™s been about two months since Colorado officials silently released another batch of British Columbian wolves in the dead of the night on the stateā€™s Western Slope. In an effort to keep their activities secretive and protect those administering them, Colorado officials opted for the quick and silent release as part of their reintroduction schedule. Despite their best efforts, one of those wolves is already making headlines.

Wolf 2505-BC, which was one of the recently imported 15 wolves, has reportedly been killed by federal officials in Wyoming this week. While Colorado CPW did put out a release regarding the incident, they sound about as forthcoming as a mob boss pleading the fifthā€¦

Strong and her two dogs that were mistakenly killed by coyote hunters

šŸ• Update: Charges Laid in Fatal Shooting of Ontario Couple's Dogs. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has laid charges in connection with the shooting deaths of two German shepherds belonging to Kaitlin Strong and Robert Jordan.  If youā€™ll recall, the dogs were mistakenly killed during a coyote hunt gone wrong back in February.

Strong previously reported hearing a gunshot shortly after letting her dogs out and discovering blood and drag marks in a nearby field. The Ministryā€™s investigation later confirmed that a group of hunters had mistaken the dogs for coyotes and has since laid charges on the unnamed suspect(s).

According to text messages from the Ministry, the charges include two counts of careless hunting ā€“ one for each dog ā€“ and a third charge of trespassing for the purpose of hunting . A first court appearance is believed to be scheduled for June 11.

šŸ›» Wyoming Amends Hunting Statute to Allow Shooting Certain Nongame Wildlife from Vehicles. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon recently signed House Bill 211 into law, further amending the state's hunting statute to permit hunters to shoot certain species of nongame wildlife from vehicles. This change relaxes previous restrictions but includes important caveats to ensure ethical hunting practices and public safety.

The new law does not apply to wildlife species that require a permit or license to hunt and maintains that shooting from public roads or within 30 feet of them remains strictly prohibited. The law does not change the existing restrictions on hunting predatory animals. Hunters must still comply with the regulations specific to those species, regardless of whether they are hunting from a vehicle.

WEEKEND MEME // NO WAY Iā€™M MISSING THIS YEAR

WANDERINGS // A SFW GLIMPSE OF OUR BROWSER HISTORY

Art is one of those things that can be so hard to define and ultimately means something different to every single person. Well, for starters, hereā€™s how the worldā€™s oldest cave painting defines who we are. Alright, spring is officially here. Itā€™s time to give that car a once-over for the wife, hereā€™s how to best get it ready for sunny skies. Speaking of spring, itā€™s also March Madness. Now, Iā€™m admittedly not a yuge basketball fan (go Gators), but Iā€™ll gladly participate in the best restaurants, bars and BBQ joints based on the team I am rooting for as outlined in this handy guide. OK, letā€™s clarify one thing - the weekend is almost here. But another thing that Iā€™m not all that clarified on is what the hell a clarified cocktail is. Now I know.
