AN HONEST MISTAKE?
PRO BASS FISHERMAN AND YOUTUBER ARRESTED AFTER FISHING WITHOUT A LICENSE
In what YouTuber Ben Milliken is calling a ‘massive misunderstanding,’ the Bassmaster Elite angler has found himself in a bit of hot water after being charged with fishing tournament fraud. Stemming from a hog of a 13-pound largemouth bass he caught in February, Milliken turned himself in to Texas law enforcement last Thursday according to officials.
The allegations of fraud followed Milliken’s submission form for the Toyota ShareLunker program, which recognizes anglers that reel in 13-plus-pound largemouth bass in the first quarter of each year. On that submitted form in question was Milliken’s 13.18-pound largemouth that he pulled in off of Lake Naconiche in west Texas…

🐻❄️ 10-year-old girl downs her first polar bear. Yes, just a couple of weeks after an Ontario man took out a polar bear for attacking his wife, a young Nunavut girl has done the same, albeit under different circumstances. Heading out on a hunt with her father, the 10-year-old first spotted the bear as it traversed a thin piece of ice. Waiting for over an hour for the big bruin to hit the mainland, she finally got her shot as she reportedly emptied 10 rounds into the massive bear.
Out in the field just a month after her grandmother passed away from cancer, 10-year-old Ava Nipisar cried tears of joy, stating that she knew her grandmother was there when she killed her first bear. Ava’s father Sean was proud of his daughter and went on to assert the importance of raising his children up in a family-oriented outdoor lifestyle.
"That's part of our culture," Sean said. "I try and teach my kids young and that you can do anything right? Like that was my goal, right for all my kids. It was the father and daughter thing. Special."
🙏 Virginia hunter dies after a bear falls from a tree. Last week a Virginia bear hunter was hospitalized after a bear he and his group chased up a tree fell on him after he shot it. After performing first aid on the man, he was transported to a local hospital last Monday where he remained in critical condition.
On Friday of last week, 58-year-old Lester C. Harvey unfortunately succumbed to his injuries in hospital. According to his obituary, Harvey was from the town of Phenix in Charlotte County and is survived by his wife, three sons, two daughters and eight grandchildren. He is described as “a friend to all” and “an avid outdoorsman.”
🐻 Controversial New Jersey bear hunt closes with stellar numbers. This year’s edition of the New Jersey bear hunt has come to a close and the numbers of bears that ended up on the ground is promising to say the least. According to preliminary numbers by state officials, a total of 472 black bears were killed in the Garden State this year spread across the state’s two-phase hunting season.
While the harvest numbers are slightly below last year’s 493 bears that were taken, officials believe cold, damp weather are factors that played a role in this year’s decreased harvest totals. As with most of the state’s bear hunts, archery hunters ended up with the most successful seasons of all bear hunters. Accounting for 397 of the 472 bears killed, it’s good to be a bowman in the New Jersey bear woods.

🦌 Wildest tracking footage on the internet? I think so. This fella was hunting in about 6 inches of fresh power in Vermont and had an incredibly close call with a big bruiser. The footage is unreal and is worth the watch on YouTube.

Omega made a secret Speedmaster exclusively for US military pilots. And, in the event you aren’t a decorated pilot, they’re letting guys like us buy them now. I drove the entire eastern seaboard on last Friday, the 13th. Here’s why it’s considered unlucky (I’m fine, by the way). I’m making it my resolution to learn how to tie some basic knots in 2025. In the meantime, can you tell a weak knot from a strong one? I love a good bar and I’ve been lucky enough to sip a cold one at a few of these ones.
