A DECENT SENTENCING FOR A CHANGE
JAIL TIME, FINES AND SUSPENSIONS FOR PAIR OF MISSISSIPPI MEN BUSTED WITH TROPHY DEER IN OHIO
In a case that was without any regard for the law, a pair of Mississippi men have been brought to justice for a slew of egregious poaching charges.
According to a release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, they have successfully got their men dead to rights in a case where the defendants seemingly did absolutely all they could to ignore the law. The string of incidents, which took place throughout southeast Ohio, involved everything from night hunting and using the aid of motor vehicles to trespassing and failing to have any form of a license.
The proceedings took place earlier this month at multiple courthouse locations with judges taking their turns handing down the two men their fateā¦

š§ø Montana records first fatal grizzly bear encounter of 2025. In a recent incident near Dupuyer, Montana, a man searching for shed antlers was charged by an adult female grizzly bear on a brushy hillside. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, shot and killed the bear mid-charge, escaping unharmed. This event, reported by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (MFWP), marks the first fatal grizzly bear encounter in North Americaās grizzly country in 2025. The bear, described as being in good condition with no prior conflict history, left behind an unharmed yearling cub, which MFWP believes can survive independently and will not require intervention.
The incident, now under investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service due to the grizzlyās federally protected status, occurred in the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE), a key grizzly recovery zone spanning 9,600 square miles and home to over 1,000 grizzlies. Details such as the type of firearm used and whether the encounter took place on public or private land remain unclear.
š Florida trapper nearly loses his arm in risky alligator relocation effort. Earlier this mont, a Florida trapper by the name of Scott Lang was seriously injured by a 10-foot-6-inch alligator at Alligator Alley Outfitters in Arcadia, Florida, during a relocation effort. The outfitter, located about 90 miles southeast of Tampa, is known for hosting āmega trophy alligatorā hunts on private land, offering guided expeditions for alligators typically 8 to 10 feet long, with some exceeding 10 feet.
The attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. when the alligator, freed from protective jaw tape, bit Lang, nearly severing his left arm completely. According to the 911 call, Langās left arm was attached only by the skin and was āsevered and twisted above the elbow.ā
Langās 14-year-old son, Ashton, provided critical life-saving care before Lang was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The alligator was killed following the incident, according to the DeSoto County Sheriffās Office. As of April 11, Langās condition remains undisclosed.
š¦ Kansas Gov. shoots down controversial non-resident waterfowl bill. Last Wednesday, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly vetoed HB2028, a proposed law that would have restricted nonresident duck and goose hunters to three days a week on most public lands, alongside minor changes to license fee structures. The billās controversial cap on out-of-state waterfowlers sparked debate, with supporters arguing it was needed to alleviate overcrowding and reduce pressure on migratory bird populations, citing an influx of nonresident hunters. Opponents, however, warned that such limits could harm Kansasās economy by reducing tourism and conservation funding.
In her veto statement, Governor Kelly expressed concern over the billās potential to negatively affect rural communities by curbing economic activity from nonresident hunters. She emphasized that the restrictions could lead to a loss of revenue for businesses and conservation efforts, ultimately deciding against a law that might undermine the prosperity of these areas.
THOUGHTS FROM THE STAND // FROM OUR NOTEPAD
I spent the day on horseback with my daughter on Friday. They built them cowboys different than me. Dang Iām sore.
Never mind screaming on the internet. Let reality convince your opponent that he or she is wrong.
One day youāll wish you enjoyed right now a little more. So how ābout you go do a little more about that right now.

VIDEO // SOME THINGS JUST HAVE TO BE SEEN
š“ Watch this dude come face-to-face with a black bear while trying to film himself on his mountain bike. This is pretty wild as this guy tries to complete his run off-camera, you can hear the moment he sees the bear coming his way.
Despite raising his bike over his head, it looks like this bear was more interested in the cameraā¦
WANDERINGS // A SFW GLIMPSE OF OUR BROWSER HISTORY
They say context is everything and in the case of these terms that can mean something completely different in a courtroom, these legal terms are most certainly among some I had no idea had any legal definition at all. Speaking of context, AI is really f*cking a lot of that up as of lately. In fact, we shared something a few weeks back that was AI-generated, unbeknownst to us. In an attempt to get you to accept our apologies for sharing that dumb sh*t, hereās some more info on how these these images can mess us up and how you can better spot them in the wild. Hereās something AI can never take away from us: these old-time TV cars we all would love to drive. And in the essence of todayās theme of keeping it real, you should probably load up the fam this summer and tackle this epic US National Park roadtrip IRL (In Real Life, you square).
