CANADIANS PHYSICALLY FEND-OFF STRING OF WILDLIFE ATTACKS LAST WEEKEND
In a couple of stories coming out of Beautiful British Columbia last weekend, the BC Conservation Officer Service was busy responding to calls from wildlife attacks from across the province. And while one victim did suffer some pretty horrendous injuries, everyone survived, mainly because they chose to fight back in the face of fear.
Yes, it turned out to be a busy weekend in the Canadian west as one woman staved off two grizzly bears in one incident while another BC man literally went toe-to-toe with a mountain lion in another…

Kurt Vonnegut is a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom for those willing to listen. So when five college students wrote to ask him if he’d visit their school, his letter he returned to them was worth the read. What was surgery like before we had general anesthesia? Put simply, you had to outrun the pain. Oh, and opium and alcohol helped. Keeping with the theme of Mr. Vonnegut’s letter, back in 2012, archaeologists in Southern Turkey discovered a well-preserved mosaic featuring a skeleton savoring a loaf of bread and a pitcher of wine, surrounded by the Greek words “Be cheerful and live your life.” The late, great Jimmy Buffett used to sing “give me oysters and beer for dinner every day of the year and I’ll be fine.” Lyrics I wholeheartedly agree with, and for a time, lived by. Sadly, the days of $1 oysters are behind us. Which leads me to ask what in the hell should we realistically expect to pay for an oyster these days anyways?
