WE ARE SO BACK
BLACK BEAR HUNTING RETURNS TO LOUISIANA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 36 YEARS

Nothing gets me tickled quite like a true conservation success story and the great state of Louisiana is the latest to have one. After a tumultuous 36 years since hunters could chase black bears in the Sportsmenā€™s Paradise, history was made earlier this week when a small group of hunters got the green light to do just that.

It wasnā€™t until 1992 that black bears in Louisiana were afforded protection via the Endangered Species Act where they would hang out for the following 24 years. After extensive efforts to bring population levels back from the brink, black bears were delisted in 2016 after posting hopeful results.

With a current population estimated at roughly 1,500 bears, the state feels ready to laissez les bons temps rouler in the bear woods this fallā€¦

šŸ™ Florida high school football player and homecoming king killed in hunting accident. According to the Alachua County Sheriffā€™s office, 18-year-old Malachi Lancaster died from injuries sustained from a hunting accident on Sunday evening.

Reports from Floridaā€™s Fish and Wildlife Commission stated that officers responded to a hunting accident involving the minor on Sunday evening at 6:14 p.m. just south of Gainesville. Officials stated that a firearm was accidentally discharged and the victim was transported to Shands Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Friends and family identified the victim as Malachi Lancaster, a senior at Newberry High School where he played football and was this yearā€™s homecoming king. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Virginia hunter injured by falling bear after shooting it out of a tree. There are hazards to this game we play and when hunting black bears overhead, we ought to be watchful for falling objects bears. A group of hunters in Virginia learned this lesson the hard way Monday after they chased a bear they had been hunting up a tree. As most of the group moved away from the base of the tree, the hunter that shot the treed bruin was a bit too close and as the bear fell from above, it landed directly on top of the gun-toting hunter.

His hunting party performed first aid on the injured 58-year-old before EMS arrived on the scene and transported him to hospital. According to reports, he sustained serious injuries but remains in stable condition.

VIDEO // SOME THINGS JUST HAVE TO BE SEEN

šŸ„Š Ever fight a bear for your buck? Iā€™ll admit that I am not entirely sure what the f*ck is going on in this video. But from what I can gather on the internet is that a bear allegedly stole this buck from a hunter and well, they went into his den to claim it.

Pretty wild stuff either way and certainly something you donā€™t come across every day.

WANDERINGS // A SFW GLIMPSE OF OUR BROWSER HISTORY

The first instant replay ever happened in 1963 and it changed everything about how we watch sports. With eyes the size of grapefruits, these images of a humpback whaleā€™s eye are as blue as the damn sea. Alright, letā€™s break down the 5-second rule as it pertains to food that fell on the floor. Seven drunk confessions that likely wonā€™t make me quit drinking, but definitely make me think long and hard about it.

EYE CANDY // PICTURES > WORDS

Iā€™m perpetually in a ā€œI need a classic Porsche and a Christmas treeā€ kind of mood this time of year.
