JACKASS
WYOMING MAN CITED FOR CAPTURING LIVE WOLF, BRINGING IT TO A BAR AND KILLING IT

In a rare case of egregious animal torture, a Wyoming man has been cited for tormenting a wolf he captured in Sublette County.

According to reports, the man ran down the wolf with his snowmobile in late February, disabling the animal. Instead of putting the animal out of its misery, the man jumped off his sled and captured it before taking it back to his home. Unfortunately, thatā€™s not where it ended.

Using tape to secure the animalā€™s mouth, the accused then took the wolf down to the local watering hole. There he paraded the animal around the bar before taking it out back and killing it.

Photos from the event surfaced, helping the investigation which placed the scene of the crime inside the Green River Bar in Daniel, Wyoming. According to the local reports, an anonymous tip came into the department a few days following the incidentā€¦

HEADLINES // DIGESTIBLE SNIPPETS

šŸŗ Ainā€™t wasting no time: Speaking of wolves as a hot-button topic, Colorado officials announced that a wolf killed a ranchers calf earlier this week. While this is traditionally nothing much to write home about (outside of being a pain in the as* for the rancher), the location in which it took place is what has piqued the interest of many. Announcing that the livestock depredation event took place in Grand County - the same place 10 wolves were recently released - is what has many hot and bothered. In a state where the recently-appointed wildlife commissioner abruptly resigned last month, citing the contentious issue as one of the reasons, we, nor the wolves, are out of the woods yet in Colorado.

šŸ½ļø Pittsburgh cull provides nearly 10,000 meals: Targeting two parks within city limits, Pittsburghā€™s pilot program that saw 100 deer culled has been deemed a success. With a bulging population of deer, it was announced last September that the city would cull deer in Frick and Riverside parks. Mayor Ed Gainey has since called the program a ā€œtremendous successā€ after 30 archers were able to provide 9,440 meals to those in need.

šŸ†” Mistaken identity: A Michigan hunter is under investigation after reportedly shooting a wolf that he believed to be a coyote. Considering that the incident took place about 100 miles east of Detroit on the stateā€™s Lower Peninsula (LP), his story kind of checks out. While wolves are very present in the stateā€™s Upper Peninsula, the LP has not been home to wolves for over 100 years. The investigation remains on-going, mainly because all wolves in Michigan are federally protected. That said, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, a hunter must knowingly kill a wolf to be punished by the fullest extend of the lawā€¦so heā€™s got that going for him.

šŸŖ± Special delivery: I tend to get a little confused on where we draw the line between laziness and convenience and our friends at Walmart are seemingly pushing me to pick a side. In an announcement earlier this week, Americaā€™s favorite retailer announced that they will now be delivering bait directly to your door - or the boat ramp (which actually is convenient). While the selection remains limited to night crawlers and red worms at the moment, if youā€™re looking for live bait, itā€™s still recommended that you peel your a** out of bed and support your local bait shop.
